SECURING A MAJOR NEW AIR FREIGHT WAREHOUSE FOR DNATA
This month saw the launch of a state-of-the-art cargo handling unit at Heathrow, by global air freight and handling operation, dnata. The new 22,900m2 dnata City East site is Heathrow’s most high-tech cargo facility and will enable dnata to realise faster truck and cargo handling times for Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines.
Operating within a secure and highly regulated environment, maintaining security was paramount to dnata’s new facility. Working closely with dnata, Capita Workforce Management installed a variety of door entry units and turnstiles to car park barriers, in under 4 months across the new site.
The new site includes warehousing with 32 truck doors, state of the art ULD handling system, office space for all staff and resident customers, an employee gym and a split-level multistory car park.
As well as dnata City East, dnata also utilises the Capita WFM solution at its sites across its UK regional airports including Gatwick and Manchester. The Self Service module has allowed dnata’s employees to book leave and interchange shifts with co-workers. The central system also keeps a log of all training records, allowing dnata to make use of a custom setting that links the training expiry date to the site access levels.
